In view of the recommendation of the Secretariat on Policies for Women,of the Brazilian Presidency and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, was created in 2006 the Eletrosul Gender and Race Committee. Seeks to implement boosters policies, concepts and management practices aimed at promoting citizenship and disseminate the exemplary initiatives of gender equality and race in the workplace; raise awareness, mobilize managers and employees and employees on gender and race issues; and coordinate the Equality of Gender and Race Program.
Gender and Race Equality program
Promoted and directed by the Secretariat of Policies for Women (SPM), the Gender Equality Program and Race has a partnership with the International Labour Organization (OIT), of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the Secretariat for Policies to Promote Racial Equality (SEPPIR).
The program issues are periodic and organizations wishing to renew their participation, every time, a new accession process. Those who meet the agreed receiving the Seal Equality of Gender and Race, for the reference period. The seal is an important attribute and organization of distinction as an entity committed to gender equality in the workplace.
Eletrosul participates in the program since its inception in 2005 and was awarded the seal in all its editions.
Women's Empowerment Principles
During 2010, in line with Eletrobras, Eletrosul joined the signatory list of statement of support for the Women's Empowerment Principles established by UN Women and the Global Compact. The document lists seven principles with practical actions to be incorporated by companies in all its activities in order to build strong economies; establish more stable and just societies; achieve targets agreed internationally for development, sustainability and human rights; improve the quality of life for women, men, families and communities and boost the operations and goals of the company.
