After its fully privatized generating capacity in 1998, Eletrosul in 2004 received the license to return to generating business and since then has worked intensively with a focus on sustainability. Ten years later, he repositioned the generation market as a national reference in renewable energy.
Today, the Eletrosul energy matrix is 100% clean, coming from hydro, wind and solar sources, totaling 2.1 gigawatts (GW) of installed power - enough energy to meet the consumption of a population of about 12 million people. Investments in generation, own and in partnership, revolving around R $ 8 billion in assets.
In 2013, Eletrosul recorded the full operation of five hydroelectric plants with a total of 522.5 MW of installed capacity. Are in operation the plants Passo São João (77 MW) in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Mauá (363 MW) in the state of Paraná, and São Domingos (48 MW) in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in addition to SHP Barra do Rio Chapéu (15.15 MW) and João Borges (19 MW) in the state of Santa Catarina. In partnership, Eletrosul also participates in infrastructure projects such as hydroelectric Jirau (3,750 MW) in the State of Rondonia, and hydroelectric Teles Pires (1,820 MW), between Pará and Mato Grosso, thus ensuring energy strengthening for continued economic and social development of the country.
In wind power generation, Eletrosul is the largest investor in the South and one of the largest players in the country. Only in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, are being invested approximately R $ 3.8 billion in projects that have a total of 800 MW of installed capacity.
The Wind Energy Complex Campos Neutrais - the largest in Latin America, to be implemented in the municipalities of Santa Vitória do Palmar and Chui -brings together three large parks: Geribatu, Chui and Hermenegildo - totaling 583 MW.
In full operation since December 2011, the Wind Energy Complex Cerro Chato (90 MW), ein Santana do Livramento, it was the first venture of the state company in this segment. The wind farm is being expanded to more than 126 MW through the construction of eight farms, which should be fully operational in 2016.
Wind Poer projects
Reaffirming its leadership position in encouraging the development of alternative energy sources, the administrative headquarters of the company in Florianópolis (SC), it was transformed into a complex of photovoltaic generation - the largest in Latin America integrated with a building. The Megawatt Solar Power Plant (1 MWp), It produces enough energy to serve about 540 homes. The ultimate goal of Eletrosul in the industry is exploring investments in photovoltaic solar plants not only, but also concentration. Together with projects in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul and Rondônia, the company installed solarimetric stations to start technical and financial feasibility studies.
